Getting paid while you study? Yes, please. Here’s what you need to know about SU (student grants) and apprentice salary, depending on your education.

SU – The Danish Student Grant

For: IB-Diploma and EUD (in the basic course, if you're over 18 and don’t have an apprenticeship yet)

SU is financial support from the government that helps while you’re studying.

• You have to apply for SU at www.su.dk
• You need to be 18+, active in your studies, and meet some criteria (like your parents’ income and how much you earn on the side)
• It’s paid out once a month
  If you're doing IB-Diploma, you can get SU for the whole programme
  If you're on EUD and doing the basic course without an apprenticeship, you can also apply for SU

Salary during education

For: EUD (if you have an apprenticeship or are in school-based training)

On EUD you get paid by the company if you have an apprenticeship agreement. This applies both when you’re at the company and at school.

• You need a training agreement (apprenticeship) with a company
• Salary starts from the day the agreement begins
• You get paid whether you’re at work or in class
• If your agreement also covers the basic course, your salary starts there too – if not, you can apply for SU if you’re 18+
• If you don’t have an apprenticeship, you might enter school-based training – and get a school-based training allowance

Yes – all our campuses have a canteen where you can grab food and drinks during the day. And no need to bring cash – we’re a cash-free zone.

You can pay with:

• Regular debit/credit cards
• E-payment cards or Dankort via phone
• Contactless payments
• And in most places: MobilePay

As long as you’ve got your phone or card with you, you’re good to go.

Yes – probably! We’ve got rooms available in Sønderborg, Tønder, and Haderslev.

If you’re enrolled in an EUD or EUX programme and it takes more than 75 minutes by public transport to reach your school, you have the right to a hostel room during school periods (not during apprenticeships).

• Under 18? You stay for free.
• Turn 18 while staying? You’ll start paying from the following quarter.
• Over 18 and no training agreement? The price is DKK 612/week (2024).
• In school-based training (SOP)? You stay for free – until you turn 18.

If you don’t meet the requirements, you can still apply – we’ll assess your situation individually.

We love showing what’s happening at EUC Syd – to you, your classmates, and future students. So we often take photos and videos during school life and events. You might see them on our social media or website.

But don’t worry – we never post anything that makes you look bad. And if you don’t want your picture or video used, just let us know!
Already spotted something you’d like removed? Write to us at kommunikation-es@eucsyd.dk – and we’ll take it down ASAP.

As a public institution, we’re allowed to use photos and video according to GDPR rules (article 6, paragraph 1, point e – in case you're into law 😉).

Sometimes we ask for permission

If you’re taking part in a planned video or photo shoot where you’re featured as a “model” for school materials or the website, we’ll need your written consent.
If you’re under 15, your parents will have to sign too. Don’t worry – we’ll sort all that in advance.
