Application

Your IB journey starts here!

Curious about studying in Denmark? Here’s everything you need to know about applying to our Pre-IB or IB Diploma Programme.

How to Apply

If you’re coming straight from a Danish "Folkeskole", you’ll need to fill out our application and submit the standard form on www.optagelse.dk.

We might ask you to come in for a chat with one of our student counsellors before final admission – nothing scary, just to make sure the IB is the right fit for you.

If you're applying for the IB Diploma Programme, you’ll also need to read and accept the General Regulations. (Yes, reading the fine print is part of being an IB student!)

Who Can Apply?

We welcome students from all over the world!

  • If you’ve completed 10 years of school, you can apply to Pre-IB.
  • If you’ve already done 11 years, you can apply directly to 1st year of the IB Diploma – as long as your English is up to speed.

What Does It Cost?

Good news!

  • Tuition is free if you’re from a Nordic, EU, or EEA country.
  • It’s also free if you’re from outside Europe – as long as you have a valid residence permit for Denmark.
  • School books? Also free – we lend them to you.

EUC Syd is a public school, so we keep things fair and accessible.

For more information, please read here.

What are the criteria?

To thrive at EUC Syd as an IB student, you should be:

  • Confident in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Open-minded and interested in different cultures
  • Academically ambitious and ready to work hard
  • In possession of a valid residence permit

Important: You’re the one responsible for getting your residence permit – we can’t help you apply for it. Need guidance? Check with the Danish Immigration Authorities.

Note for non-EU applicants:

When you apply, you must include proof that you’ve already been granted a residence permit that covers the full two years of the IB Diploma. No valid residence permit = no application review.

Info meetings

We host information meetings every year in January. Come meet us, ask questions, and get a feel for life at EUC Syd!
